Semyon Leonenko (Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures, University of California, Berkeley, 2025) is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of German, Russian, and East European Languages and Literatures at Rutgers University and an Instructor of Russian at the Middlebury Language Schools. A cultural historian of the Soviet Union and SFR Yugoslavia, Prof. Leonenko works at the intersection of social, political, and literary forms from a comparative perspective. His current book project, tentatively titled Automation with a Human Face, analyzes Soviet creative writing of the interwar period as a job at risk.
